New Dining Hall
On the evening of June 4th, the new dining hall was in use for the first time. Curiously, on the last night of the long term course 2010. We had been promised a new dining hall since the beginning of January, but due to snow and worker’s coffee breaks, the work was delayed 5 months. Anyway, LK10 enjoyed their last meal in the dining hall!

After six months of eating in the gym hall, the new dining hall was finally ready to use on June 4th 2010. The room is more welcoming today. Instead of the small basement windows, new windows from floor to ceiling have been installed on the northern wall. The room is much brighter, and it is now possible to see each other without having to turn on the electric light during daytime. There are also doors by the windows leading to the new lovely terrace, with benches and tables, and when the weather permits it, the meal can be enjoyed outside as well.
In the former TV-room the buffet is now situated. This has helped the kitchen to get an easier access to the buffet, not having to carry the food between tables and chairs with eating guests. The annoying TV is gone, and also the pool table. The TV is now in class room 1 and the pool table in the library.

The settings have changed, and the reactions are very positive. Guests love to come down there and spend their time. During the family weeks many families spend the whole evening in “the basement”, enjoying a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. But the setting doesn’t do it all. The meals in the dining hall are still great, and that is still the main reason why everyone so loves to go there.

Despite delays everyone is happy with this new dining hall. Except, maybe, the gardener. We are still waiting for the grass to grow. So far only weed has started to grow on the new slopes.
Sport enthusiasts can also rejoice: The gym hall is again back to it’s normal function. During the last six months students and short-course participants had to use the hallways for exercising. It was pretty dangerous to walk through the hallways when 20 enthusiastic students were doing circle training.
So, all in all, a very positive development for the school. You could say, that Løgumkloster Højskole has been spiced up!!
